Arm Lift, also known as Brachioplasty, is the cosmetic correction of drooping skin on the upper arm.  Through heredity, weight changes, and aging, skin on the upper arms can become saggy and loose.  By removing excess fat and skin, we are able to tighten and restore the elasticity lost over time.  If you are embarrassed by your arms and feel the need to hide them in baggy clothing, an Arm Lift can not only fix the physical appearance of your arms but also give you back the confidence to wear your sleeveless shirts again.

A:  Every situation is unique, but generally Brachioplasty surgery is about 2-4 hours long depending on individual circumstances and how extensive the procedure is.

Q:  Will it be performed under local or general anesthesia?

A:  General anesthesia.

Q:  How long will I be out of work?

A:  Patients may return to work in 1 week depending on their job duties.

Q:  What should I expect after my procedure?

A:  Patients may experience temporary bruising, swelling, and numbness.

Q:  Do I need special testing prior to my procedure?

A:  Testing is dependent on the patient’s health history and age.  Testing is ordered for every patient.

Q:  Will this be covered by insurance?

A:  No.

Q:  When can I start exercising after my procedure?

A:  No lifting, pulling, or pushing for 6-8 weeks.

Q:  Where will I be having my surgery?

A:  DuPage Medical Group has a fully accredited ambulatory surgery center located in Lombard, IL.  Patients also have the option of having surgery at select local hospitals.

Q:  How much does surgery cost?

A:  Every situation is unique and the cost of surgery depends on several factors.  The duration of the procedure varies on how extensive the surgery is.  The duration will then determine the price of anesthesia and how long the surgical facility will be scheduled for.  In order to provide the most accurate surgical fee estimate, it is necessary to meet with one of our board certified physicians for a consultation.
