Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)

More commonly referred to as a Nose Job, Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to alter the appearance of the nose.  The nose is the primary focal point of the face and plays a major role in defining balance and proportion.  Our approach to Rhinoplasty is to individualize the procedure to each patient’s wishes, their ethnic or familial traits and overall facial structure.

FAQ:

Q:  How long does the procedure take?

A:  Every situation is unique, but generally Rhinoplasty surgery is about 1.5-3 hours long.

Q:  Will it be performed under local or general anesthesia?

A:  General anesthesia.

Q:  How long will I be out of work?

A:  Patients may return to work in 1 week.  If the job requires strenuous activity, it may be 2-3 weeks.

Q:  What should I expect after my procedure?

A:  Patients may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and difficulty breathing due to packing.

Q:  Do I need special testing prior to my procedure?

A:  Testing is dependent on the patient’s health history and age.  Testing is ordered for every patient.

Q:  Will this be covered by insurance?

A:  Rhinoplasty is cosmetic.  Some patients combine procedures to correct breathing issues as well as correcting the appearance of the nose thus a portion may be covered by your insurance.  These patients are advised to contact their insurance company first.

Q:  When can I start exercising after my procedure?

A:  Patients may resume exercise in 2-3 weeks.

Q:  Where will I be having my surgery?

A:  DuPage Medical Group has a fully accredited ambulatory surgery center located in Lombard, IL.  Patients also have the option of having surgery at select local hospitals.

Q:  How much does surgery cost?

A:  Every situation is unique and the cost of surgery depends on several factors.  The duration of the procedure varies on how extensive the surgery is.  The duration will then determine the price of anesthesia and how long the surgical facility will be scheduled for.  In order to provide the most accurate surgical fee estimate, it is necessary to meet with one of our board certified physicians for a consultation.
